We like Ford trucks! Mongo's Garage is a Lifestyle and VLOG channel masquerading as an automotive channel that is shot vlog style with videos grouped into build series playlists. We occasionally shoot tutorial videos and a joke or two to keep things lite. We are a Father and Son team restoring anything automotive like Trucks, Muscle Cars, Tractors, Trailers, Mainly Fords, Chevrolets, Dodges, Boats, Hopes, and Dreams. Mongomann is a veteran heavy equipment mechanic now Service Manager with a deadpan sense of humor. Kenny is an up and coming young man learning the ropes with his father at the Mongo's Garage complex while having a little fun in the process. Come along with us and enjoy our antics and stories as we help each other, our family and friends out with all things mechanical here at Mongo's Garage. Thanks for watching! See you soon!

Our Best Paint Job Yet - Painting A Bullnose Ford.
Making the final preparations on this 1986 Ford F150 all over paint. After taking the day off Friday and working nearly 12 hours we hit the shop Saturday morning early and got everything ready to spray by 2 o’clock. Once you start spraying in the wet on wet process, you cannot stop until the clear is on the truck or you risk having to wet sand the entire truck before continuing with the next step of the process. I did not want that to happen so we pushed on through the night and got Larry painted. This is a long process but I prefer doing this way as it saves so much unneeded prep time between the stages. Wet on wet makes for a long spray out but in the long run saves a bunch of time in the final project. We used Akzo Noble paint in base coat - clear coat on this job. It has become my go to recently and is a really easy product to put down and has given us several really nice paint jobs so far. It helps that the guys at the local Car Quest - Advanced that we buy it from are all easy going and easy to get along with. We will be wet sanding this out and buffing it soon. Thank you for all the support on this project. See you all again real soon!

Wow 🤩
That's a clean 2 tone ya got there 🤟 good work buddy
300 straight 6, best engine ever made.
For sure! I miss Pat the most of all the projects we have done yet. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!
Hell yeah man. I am refurbishing my 81' short bed bullnose named "Jerry" that I drove in highschool 24 years ago. It was my Dads truck that caught fire christmas of 96, so my Dad and my Grandpa Jerry put the cab off his 81 f100 ranger onto my dads 86f150. Dad gave me the truck in 2000 and me and grandpa rebuilt the top end of the 300. Drove it for 6 months before the trans went out and it sat behind my dads barn for 22 years. I've had it in my shop for 2 years torn apart but can't justify sinking a bunch of money in it right now. New sub by the way.
Awesome story bud! It's not always about the cars or the trucks. Its the connections they enable us to have with family and loved ones and in this case new friends. Thanks for the sub and for the comment. I hope you the best of luck with your project, these long term projects can take a lot out of you!
I enjoy your guys videos I’m building a 85 f150 and I watch your videos for inspiration thanks
We appreciate the interaction and all the support! Kenny and I have a soft spot for these old Bullnose Fords. Hopefully we can keep each other on track!
Napa Carlyle has an identical wire plier
I bought Kenny a set of these a while back and he has been using them for a while now. He likes them but there are some subtle differences in the handles. Thanks for the comment and the support!
would you do another I have an 85 driving it now cause my diesel is in the shop
To be honest we would need 20K to do a similar paint job for someone else. There is a lot of work that goes into the process to get it to look like this! Thank you for the comment and the support!
They are good but!.... I have broken the jaws twice crimping with them. Unless I squeeze my connectors come off too easy.
Wait, you have a set of the ICON 7" stripper? or have you broken the Snap Ons? I have broke 1 pair of the Snappies as well but they are still the best feeling and operational wire plyers I have ever use. Thank you for the comment and the support!
That’s to clean for a country boy
I'm not sure I know anyone more country then Kenny. LOL, thanks for the compliment, we are really proud of this one so far!
Amazing work. I’ve never had the patience for all the sanding, but I want to!!🛠️
We appreciate your kind words, I never had the patience either until I realized that I had the ability to make these come out really nice, that is what motivates me to keep going. Thanks for the support!
Wonderful.😊
Thank you, now to get it back together and running again.
Beautiful im doing similar swap on f-superduty chassis i have a dt360 instead of 12v
I think the DT360 is a great choice. It's got some serious power and torque! Not to mention I will be doing the same thing soon except I have a DT466E! Looking for a 72 F600
@Mongos_Garage I know somebody selling a dt466e and allison 2000 for 1900.
LOL, we got ours still in the truck and mobile. I am waiting for the right truck to come along for the project.
@@Mongos_Garage yeah a guy gave me a 1972 cab and clip.
Man I need help you all have some beautiful trucks
Thanks man! We all need a little help from time to time. Kenny keeps us busy for sure!
@Mongos_Garage I have supercab and crewcab unsure which one to build I want to build both both are ex state trucks and 4wd
Start with the easier of the 2 and don't loose your motivation. Good luck to you sir!
@@Mongos_Garage thank you! dt360 in mounted in chassis and 4wd conversion is done on crewcab chassis wish I had more support I build some pretty crazy stuff just no one to record or edit
My first truck was a 86 single cab short bed, I miss the high beam switch the most
I miss the simplistic engineering and easy to fix anything on it part!
Beautiful color combo
This is the original Eddie Bauer color combo. I think Kenny might even put a couple Eddie Bauer accents on it.
Perfect 👌👌
Not exactly perfect, there are a couple little issues that we will need to take care of. Thank you for the comment!
If your gigantic ass would simply stand up while you work you'd probably lose some weight and get healthier. Then possibly stick around a little longer to pass your knowledge on to younger generations.
Good job like really really good job
Thank you so much for that! We are really proud of this one. Hope to get it back together and looking good again!
Sharp two tone ‼️‼️✅✅✅
This is the original color combo for the Eddie Bauer trucks. They usually had the tan on the bottom though, Kenny wanted it in the middle. I enjoy the tutone process on these and how it looks on these trucks, I hope we do a colonial style tutone soon. Thanks for the comment.
GREAT JOB GUYS . ENJOY THE ROAD
We still have a good bit of work todo before we can enjoy the road! This one came out really nice though! Thanks for the comment!
Looks beautiful.
Thank you!
Looks soo fine!
We appreciate that! Thank you for the support and the comment!
I miss larry!
Larry is being reinvented and will soon be one of the nicest trucks in the fleet. Thanks for your support and for following along with us on this one.
I like that work.
Thank you for the support, keeping at it make s a difference for sure.

Thanks for the comment, we are always up to something in the shop.
Great truck mongo!!!
Thank you sir, I do like this truck a lot!
Great short. Keep it up.
Thank you!
Video 👍 Laundromat mumblemouf music 👎
Interesting description of the music selection, thanks for the comment!
I had this very matchbox toy (mountain man) toy as a kid. !
Copy that! I wish we still had this truck!
Sweet
Thank you! Been a long road so far, starting to see the light in the end of the tunnel!
You guys are doing a good job. 👍
I think people are starting to figure out that I actually dig making these old trucks look good again!
Howdy . Trucks lookin cool
Thanks Raza! Headed out in a little to block out the bed!
Thank you for doing 80s Ford truck builds it's giving me ideas for my wrecked trucks
Sure thing man, if we could we would save all the Bullnose Fords but we only have so much time and money. Maybe once the UA-cam money starts rolling in we’ll go full time and be able to save a couple more a year!
Thank u for that
Glad to help!
When will it be ready for painting
This is awesome I cant wait to start on mine. I take any suggestions.
Patience and do not rush through the process, enjoy every step and keep your self from losing motivation by continuing to learn and appreciate what you’re able to do! Other then that make it as nice as you can! Good luck!
@@Mongos_Garage Thank you so much!!!
You are welcome sir, I wish you the best of luck!
@ i am a maam but thank you lol
And Kenny!
Hi hunny
Hell No!
I am surprised by the vastness of the replies I have received on this car. I guess this is one of those types of things that a few people are really into and the rest of us just don't see it. I have never been a fan of these but judging by the comments there are some people out there that love them. Thank you for the comment it helps a lot!
You'd be hard pressed to find a better man than Rowdy!!
You'll not get an argument from me on that!
3 Ford bullnose models close to each other is a very rare site these days.
Around here we see it every day! I never get tired of it! Thanks for the comment!
@Mongos_Garage those bullnose models are cool. I hope many of them didn't go to the crusher back when Obama had that Cash for Clunkers thing that went on.
I am sure that CFC took a lot of them off the road. It makes me sad to think about all the wasted potential in all the trucks and cars that had to be destroyed. Welcome to merica.....
@Mongos_Garage & the rarest bullnose models today are the crew cab pickups. All of the bullnose models are awesome. Bullnoses were the last generation Ford fullsize trucks to have the base 3 speed manual on the column transmissions. Those transmissions only had 5 gears which were 1st, 2nd, 3rd, reverse, & neutral & were fun to drive too. It's sad they don't produce them anymore.
It's great content, build it like pat at least
Pat was almost as intense as Larry, for me it was really a different situation masking off the rusty stuff to paint certain areas of the truck. I learned a lot about myself on that build. It really set the pace for everything else we have accomplished so far, that and everyone's continued support! Thank you!
Pat was really awesome, didn't like the rust on the hood. But it was perfect
Yea, like I said taping around the rust to keep it on the truck was a very strange thing for me to do....
Build make it cool
Shh.... Don't tell anyone but I am working a deal on the inside with an idea that would make this a really cool Bullnose but I am not sure how Kenny will take to it. He is set on parting it out. Give me some time...
Unfortunately I didn't get to it in time. Andy starts coming apart tonight...
Those numbers just hit you in the face! All that time invested in bringing it back for zero labor gain. That’d hurt my feelings and make me keep them all. 😂
We have tried to save them all a while ago but that ended once the wife said enough was enough. At one point I had over 20 bulls on the property but realized in a life time I couldn't save them all. We effectively dispersed them to happy new homes. Kenny and I try to keep the truck count bellow 4 on property now, that is 4 trucks not on the road. Kenny trumped that rule when he out 4 trucks on the road at once. He currently has 4 legal and insured, I on the other hand don't have a single Bull currently legal.... It makes me said. LOL.
@ if I were well off, I’d save the bulls and give them away as my public service! But in the real world, I am saving mine and then our 3 sons and grandkids would be next in line. You know, every one gets a yard truck
Copy that! Same here, back in the day I used to rebuild bicycles and give them away to kids who didn't have a decent one to ride, I would love to do the same with Bullnose Fords. Maybe once the channel gains the popularity I have been working so hard to get we can do it. You find them in the south and we will come get them....
@@Mongos_Garage they are all over for 500-2000. Some running.
@@Mongos_Garage I found you on Gary’s garagemahal today. That’s a good group of enthusiasts. I shared my videos with them and got some subs out of it. It seems you have a plethora of parts folks are looking for.
I’ve got those same housings saved. Glad to get to see them perform. These old current headlights don’t stand a chance against the Georgia pitch night!🛠️
The old sealed beam headlights aren't what we remember them. It's either that or our age is showing and I can't see for shit anymore. LOL, probably the latter though.
@ I remember the day the latter came true, I was 36 and could no longer see the tape measure. Now 13 yrs later, I wear my readers over my Costas when I’m reading outside. And I don’t care. That’s the best part.
That sounds like a Jimmy Diresta move. Three pairs of glasses on at all times. LOL.
Part it out.
That is Kenny's plan.
He is a great salesman
I might have to show him how it's done.
